How to get a race license
Step 1:Call Motorsport Ireland 01-6775628 and ask for a race license introduction pack (€30 paid by CC or laser over the phone) They will give you a reference number while on the call. The reference number starts with RC
Step 2:Ring Mondello (045-860200) and tell them you wanna book in for the next race license training day, they will ask for the RC reference number Motorsport Ireland gave you.
Step 3:You pay Mondello on the day (€250). Once completing the course they stamp your application, you send it along with a medical from your GP and 2 photos to Motorsport Ireland and within a week you will have your race license in the post.
Notes:
If you are a member of a motorsport club, you will get your license at half price.
If you are afraid that the license won’t arrive in time for the first race you can get a cover note from Motorsport Ireland.
What safety equipment do I need?
You will need the following personal safety equipment. There are a number of suppliers in Ireland and the UK for this equipment
- 3 Layer Race Suit
- Fireproof Underwear
- Helmet
- Fireproof Gloves
- Race Shoes
- Fireproof Balaclava
You can get all of the above for anything from approximately €800, though it is possible to spend much more than that should you wish. All clothing must be FIA approved for competition. Any good race shop will be able to advise on the current regulations
The following is the minimum required safety equipment needed in your ITCC race car. Further details can be found in our technical regulations
Approved roll cage – Dash dodger cages are not permitted – From €400
In Date FIA approved bucket seat (no more than 8 years old) – From €150
In date FIA approved safety harness (no more than 8 years old) – From €80
Battery isolator switch, operational from inside and outside the car – €20
1.25litre ‘plumbed in’ fire extinguisher, operational from inside and outside the car -€130
